All you need is LOVE.
This proves true over and over again at our weddings! The dress was unique and perfectly styled for Amy, cowboy boots made an appearance, the reception decor literally made my jaw drop as soon as I walked in, everything was designed impeccably by the bride, the guests had a rad time in the photo booth... but at the same time, this day could have happened without all that. Because this day was totally about Amy and Brian, and the love they share for each other, and their boys, Quinn & Frankie.
Amy & Brian's wedding was the perfect way to finish off our 2013 weddings! We were lucky enough to have three Te Anau weddings this season, and they were all so different and amazing! But Amy and Brian's was the first to give us hot, bright sun for most of the day... and an absolute downpour of a thunderstorm for 30 minutes while the outdoor ceremony happened. That's what makes good wedding stories, and pretty unique ceremony photos too!

We found the guys just beginning to get suited up... but they seemed to be missing their shirts when we arrived...
Hi Quinn!
Amy is originally from Central Southland, so she spent many family holidays in Te Anau. Now, Amy and Brian and their boys live on a farm, 2 hours north of Christchurch. Amy is an artist and graphic designer - you will see evidence of this throughout her beautifully styled wedding! Brian is a typical farmer... a real life cowboy, who loves horses, dogs and hard work.
Loved Amy's dress - long and more formal for the day, and short and sassy for dancing the night away!
They wanted the chance to do a big reveal and first look before the ceremony, so that they could just relax and hang out with their guests afterwards. The beginning of the Kepler track was the perfect place for this... these moments are always emotional and unforgettable.
This is why I love having two photographers in our team... while I was shooting this...
... Liam shot this... I think he won this time!
Amy, you are an absolute stunner!
Off to the rodeo grounds... where Brian is in his element...
It was soooo hot. Like really, really hot! We arrived at Ivan Wilson Park for the ceremony, and found the guests cramped in together under the closest patch of shade. I was drinking water at a record speed (for me, who struggles to make it through a whole glass of water sometimes), and the men in suits were definitely getting their sweat on.
Thankfully wee Quinn and Frankie's entrance down the aisle was cute enough to melt anyone's heart, and everyone made their way back into the sun to surround their friends as they dedicated their lives to each other.

But we all know Southland's weather isn't particularly stable, and by the time the girls had walked down the aisle, we were surrounded in thick, moody, dark thunderclouds...
...and then the rain came. In bucket loads! It was the saturating type of rain... but it was so incredibly beautiful as it fell down around Amy and Brian, and they kept smiling and kept going!
Realising the guests were now drenched, we all moved 100m, so that everyone but the bridal party could stand under trees! Amy and Brian toughed it out (thankfully it was still warm!), and the smiles never left their faces!
If rings aren't your thing, you can give other gifts as a symbol of your marriage. But never, ever before have I seen a new tooth be given instead of a wedding ring! Brian was stoked with his new tooth... and he will proudly wear it as a symbol of his love and marriage until the end of his days!
I think most girls dream of kissing their lover in the pouring rain at some stage... why not on your wedding day?!
And then just like that, Amy and Brian were now Mr and Mrs Anderson, and the beautiful sun came out again to celebrate with them!
And then we skipped along to the reception at the Community Centre...
Ahhh!! Soooo ridiculously awesome!
Amy and Brian, thank you soooo much for such a beautiful day! Liam and I really, really enjoyed capturing you and your guests! It was perfect from beginning to end. All the very best xx
