We are Kimberley & Liam Hutton - a husband and wife team who love
photography, people, beauty, and all things creative! I love gummy
lollies, cupcakes, and stories full of emotion. When I am not photographing, editing photos, or talking with clients, you will probably find me hanging out with my amazing husband, family, or friends. Liam loves cheeseburgers, adventures, and technical things. He is really good at peeling oranges without getting sticky, and folding annoying fitted sheets perfectly.
I was Kimberley Cheyne when I met the man of my dreams. Liam captured my heart, and my love for photography rubbed off on him. We set up business together - me as the primary photographer, and Liam as my fantastic second-shooter, graphic-designer, accountant, web-designer, print media specialist, marketing-manager, laughter-maker, and best friend. I keep him very busy, and he is also a full-time physio! You will always have me as your primary photographer, but at most weddings you will see Liam shooting (and probably carrying our heaviest gear) to capture a second perspective of your day. We do life and business together, and we love it that way.
On a working/holiday trip to Samoa in 2010, Liam surprised me with the best question I could have ever hoped for, and we got married in January 2011. On that day, I got a very real appreciation for how the brides I photograph are feeling during different parts of the day... a beautiful mix of excited nerves, absolute adoration, sincerity, gratitude, abounding love, and pure joy. Weddings make my heart do a little happy dance.
I was given my first film camera when I was 10 years old. It was a colourful plastic camera with a big purple spider on the front of it! I loved taking photographs and getting films developed - this camera allowed me to relive the adventures and excitement that inspired me to take the photos in the first place. Years later, the gift of my first DSLR began the journey towards turning my passion, into my full-time job. I studied and completed a Diploma in Professional Photography, and soaked up every piece of information as I could from all different sources! In 2012, I became a qualified professional wedding photographer with the NZ Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP), and even began winning awards for my work at the NZIPP Iris Awards and the Kodak Gold Awards. We are forever learning, and absolutely ADORE our job. We are very blessed to be able to photograph amazing people and work in an awesome industry!
We are constantly being inspired by the diverse nature of beauty, and the people we encounter. Children, engaged couples, graduates, brides, grooms, parents, grandparents... everyone has a story that is worth telling and recording. We love the challenge of capturing stories, relationships, and emotions in fresh ways! Photos that capture moments of joy, love, laughter, tears, relationship, passion, intimacy, and fun are priceless. What an extremely awesome privilege it is for us to capture these moments for others! We want to get to know you, not only as clients, but as friends! Please check out our facebook page, or get in touch with us, so that we can help you to create lasting memories!
Kimberley and Liam xoxo
