Love is something that just mezmorises me. It is enthralling, warming, exciting, and it gives me little shivers down my back when it is around. There were lots of little shivers on this very day - the day of Catherine and Brendan's perfect marriage, built upon love.
The weather forecast was looking pretty angry for the day. In my first few sleepy minutes in the morning, I was loving the sound of pouring rain and hail on the roof, while I snuggled in bed. But as I came more into consciousness, it dawned on me that it was a wedding day, and hail wasn't exactly ideal. By the time lunchtime rolled around though, the hail had ceased, and the sun decided to show its face! This made me very happy.
I arrived to see the girls dressed and almost rearing to go, with plenty of enthusiasm, plenty of time, and plenty to celebrate! Catherine was a picture of beauty and grace. Her wedding dress was the only one she ever tried on - it was love at first sight, and it was divine! Her bridesmaids looked simply stunning in purple, and Catherine's Mum and Dad were right there, supporting her along the way.

Catherine, there are no words to describe how beautiful you are...
Catherine and her bridesmaids (Alice, Ruthanne, and Amber) were a bunch of laughs all day! They did all the right things and cruised through the day so wonderfully!
The ceremony was held in the impressive Knox Presbyterian Church in Dunedin - I had never photographed in here before and was quite looking forward to it! It is a grand and glorious church, and to make it even more special, Catherine's Aunty, Sarah, is the minister there and officiated in the ceremony. She spoke about family connections, the importance of family roots, and the love that binds families and couples together.
Brendan is looking quite proud of himself as his gorgeous bride makes her way down the aisle. And rightly so, he is a lucky man.
You know what? I think they like each other... I can tell by the look in their eyes.
See what I mean when I say grand and glorious?!
There is something so precious about the mother and daughter relationship, I love this.
After the ceremony, we went off the the Dunedin Railway Station. I can see why it has been named the most photographed building in New Zealand... so many of my Dunedin clients name it as their first location choice. It is a intricately designed building, with beautiful architecture. I knew the Railway Station suited Catherine and Brendan - it is classic, elegant and sophisticated. Just like them! And, we had a fresh and fun shoot here - in fact, probably my favourite station shoot yet.
Then it was off to Glenfalloch Gardens for the reception, and a few more photos along the Peninsula. It was bitterly cold by this time, but the rain stayed away, and we all toughened up and braved the wind.
They wanted a classic bridal party jumping shot - I had to dodge cars, trucks and motorbikes for this... and we had to do it a number of times because someone was always a little slow off the mark. But we got there! The wonderful cars were Jaguars from the lovely people at Classic Jaguar Limousines - I love working with these drivers, they are so obliging, courteous and nice - and they bring chocolates!
Catherine and Brendan were so much fun during the day! When we met the first time a week before the wedding, Brendan confessed that he wasn't really all that keen on photos, and he might get grumpy if it went on for too long! But by the end of the day, he admitted he had actually really enjoyed the photo session, especially because I had given him 'breaks' to go and chill with his boys (Kieran, Michael, and Robert)!
This cake was absolutely beautiful! Simple and elegant... the best way to be.
Catherine and Brendan, you sure know how to put on a good wedding. It was a lovely, relaxed, fun and beautiful day. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of it! I have sooo many more photos I wanted to put up. Can't wait to get the rest to you! I hope your honeymoon was relaxing, hot, and full of good things!
All the best for your married life together. I hope to see you again soon! xoxo
