February 12th marked the marriage of two wonderful people - Helen Fogarty and Alistair Wishart. Alistair grew up in Dunedin, and travelled to the UK 6 years ago. There he met the lovely Helen, and was clearly charmed by her gorgeous British accent!
Late last year, they had a pre-wedding celebration with their London friends and family, and a few weeks ago, they travelled to little old Dunedin to formalise their marriage in a quaint and beautiful ceremony at Roslyn Presbyterian Church.
This wedding was focused on the lovely couple, but a very large part of it was the friends and family that gathered around Helen and Alistair to support and bless their marriage. When I met with them prior to the wedding... it came as a bit of a suprise to me that having photos taken of the two of them was almost an after thought! They were interested in photographs of all the guests enjoying themselves, and were only concerned about getting one or two nice photos of themselves (and only then because they said they didn't have any nice ones together already!).
Despite the rain beginning just before the bride arrived at the church, nothing could dampen this day. Helen and Alistair were the most relaxed and casual bride and groom I have ever met! Helen even called a taxi just before the service to get her to the church!
Let me show you a snippet of a very sincere, carefree and gorgeous wedding day...

There were a whole bunch of ridiculously cute kids there...(more to come later!)
I love this. Three photos... three generations... all taking part in the ceremony. Alistair's Grandfather said a beautiful blessing for the couple. Alistair's father was the minister at this gorgeous church during Alistair's childhood, and he officated the ceremony, making it a very meaningful and special service for their family.
Alistair watches his beautiful bride walking down the aisle to meet him. That is a face of sincere joy...
Helen chose the most gorgeous green dress for her wedding day, and shoes to die for!
At their pre-wedding celebration in London, Helen and Alistair decorated with bunting, so they carried their theme across to New Zealand, with these gorgeous hand-made service sheets!
I love the light in this photo!
After the ceremony, most of the afternoon was spent at an afternoon tea, chatting and catching up with friends and family. Here I found more gorgeous people!
The afternoon tea was held in the church hall, where photographs of all the previous minister's were held - Alistair's father, Peter, on the right.
Following the afternoon tea, guests were invited to Luna cafe for drinks. Helen was determined to walk the 2km there with the guests, even despite the rain! We managed to stop for about 5 minutes of photos of the wonderful couple along the way!
How she walked two kilometres in these shoes, I don't know... but aren't they amazing?!
Our final stop was Luna, overlooking Dunedin city. Gorgeous location, gorgeous couple.
Thank-you, Alistair and Helen, for allowing me to be part of your special day. It was a privilege to photograph you. I wish you all the best for your lives together, and as you settle back into life and work in London! Just never forget your roots in Dunedin, Alistair! All the best xo
