aka Jakey Potatey.
Meet the super happy, stylish, relaxed and awesome Spencer team! I photographed these guys as part of our live shoot at our latest Through Your Eyes Photography Workshop! They were an absolute dream to photograph... so much fun, full of personality and laughter, and up for anything!
Ivy Roux, melting hearts from the moment she was born! This absolute little sweetheart came into the studio at 7 days old... after she arrived about 15 days after her due date! She was soooo amazingly placid and sleepy and just utterly delightful the entire time! She also brought in all of her important people... Mum and Dad (who were over in Dunedin from Singapore to give birth to her!), her special grandparents who live here, and her amazingly wonderful great-grandmother, whom she is named after. This was a divine shoot... there was so much love in the room for this darling little girl...
And she smiled! So perfect... Let me introduce you to a super special little man! His name is Nathaniel Johan Dent and he is the handsome new son of our dear, dear friends, Matt and Helen! He knew the world needed more of his awesomeness, so he decided to surprise everyone by coming early! And no one was complaining at all about that... apart from the fact that he missed his maternity shoot ;) We made up for it by photographing him at just 2 days old... so, so tiny and precious.
We absolutely love the Dents and it's so, so awesome to see them raising two such gorgeous little men. Two and a half year old Edwin is suuuuch a caring and doting big brother... seeing him gently patting and loving on Nathaniel just makes my heart melt! I can't even imagine how proud it makes Helen and Matt feel. They are amazingly attentive, patient, loving, adventurous parents... who are also willing to share the real side of parenting and the struggles and joys that it brings! We appreciate doing this parenting journey alongside these guys so much, and love seeing our kids playing and growing together. Meet amazing little Sione! He is a special little man in our lives, as we've been getting to know Tanz and Andy as great friends over the past year or so! I loooved heading into the Matoto's home to document this crazy amazing newborn stage for them. These guys have built a solid foundation of love on which to raise a family. They beam with pride over their little fella, and they are absolutely justified to do so! He is just delightful... This adorable wee button, Anna Belle, has graced the blog before... I'm super lucky to photograph this beautiful family at least once a year! I adooooore photographing toddlers. They never fail to bring such sweet sponteniety, raw emotion, hilarious antics, and busy chaos to shoots! And I thrive off that! Toddlers aren't designed to sit still... it's their prerogative to just do what they wanna do! And because I think this is often how parents feel after shoots with toddlers (as they naturally attempt to get them to "behave"), I thought I'd share what Aimee and Richard emailed after they had seen the photos.... "Kimberley.... Kimberley.... Kimberley.... these are GORGEOUS!! I honestly thought the shoot didn’t go so well on our part because it was so chaotic... but I should know by now that you always get the awesome shots! A million thanks!!" I was lucky enough to meet newborn Imogen and her proud big brother, Harry, at their gorgeous home! Imogen was only 12 days old... such a perfect little girl xx Another two little cuties for you to meet - Laurie and Oliver are suuuch great little buddies! I absolutely loved doing a couple of shoots for the Armstrong family around Dunedin. Such a fun and gorgeous wee family! And I know these photos have been sent to the other side of the world for family to enjoy... Meet Alayna, Sam, Archie & Charlie! I photographed this awesome family on the day that Sam and Alayna got married! They had a private ceremony on a stunning spring day, and then celebrated with family photos with their gorgeous boys. I adored these two wee fellas! Congrats Alayna and Sam :) HUGE thanks again to all of these awesome families who let me into their lives to capture their precious people! And who allow me to share some work too :) Appreciate you all greatly! xoxo
I have a preeetty special place in my heart for my wee nieces and nephews! And they are growing in number... and height! Little Annabelle is the latest addition to to the Truman family... she's actually 9 months old now, and ridiculously adorable! She always has the biggest smile plastered across her face any time you lay your eyes on her :)
But going back a year now... my beautiful sister Sarah was 26 weeks pregnant while were on a winter holiday in Hanmer Springs. So we set out to unknown locations with her gorgeous family, to capture this awesome time for them. These guys are no strangers to the blog... if you've been around here for a while you have probably seen me share photos of Penelope and Matthew, along with little Victoria, who they sadly lost at 38 weeks. This is a rather large blog... because there are just so many photos that I love from the maternity shoot through to darling little Annabelle making her entrance into this world! I met Aileen and Hayden on a beeeautiful evening out at Ocean View beach for their maternity shoot! Such a gorgeous wee spot that I looove shooting at. And these two (and their hilarious, hyperactive little dog!) were so natural and easy to work with! I love beachy maternity shoots... so many textures and colours... and that wintery light! Mmmmm...
And this beautiful little baby bump happened to be little Henry John Craw... and he's as gorgeous as ever, as you'll see below! He was so attentive and alert for the entire newborn shoot... and soooo calm! Gorgeous little man :) Check out both their maternity and newborn sessions... One of my faaaavourite things is getting to capture my beautiful clients again and again. I met Aimee, Richard and Bandon (the dog!) for a shoot in 2013... and then last year they surprised me by letting me know they had had a beautiful wee girl called Anna Belle! I photographed Anna Belle at home as a newborn, and then again at 9 months old. Far out, what a little sweetie she is! In fact, the whole family are just SO incredibly lovely... it's always such a pleasure to hear from them!
They wanted natural, homely feeling photos of Anna Belle... capturing life as it was, in that crazy, beautiful, sleepless, heart-filled-to-the-brim time :) I find myself constantly feeling the need to apologise for blogging shoots so late these days... but I've decided I'm totally gonna let that go and just be proud of myself for actually doing one! Sometimes it's just not easy juggling this working Mumma thing when my only work time is while Eli sleeps... and there is always pressing client work that needs to get out the door too. But blogging is something I will always love doing, so when I get the chance, I'll keep slowly working away to put some of my favourites together for you :)
This is turned into a huge blog... but this was one of my favourite maternity shoots ever, so you're getting to see heaps! #sorrynotsorry Gemma was one of my first graduation clients ever many years ago, so I was so stoked to hear from her again when she contacted me again about maternity and newborn photos! Gemma and Jeff are just the most lovely people ever... and now they have beautiful little Bethany lighting up their lives too! She's actually not very little anymore though... in fact she will be one at the end of this month! All the more reason to show off her maternity and newborn photos now ;) Enjoy this stunning winters evening maternity shoot, and lifestyle newborn shoot at their home with 9 day old Bethany xx Sometimes it really blows my mind that I have the privilege of sharing in other people's stories. And sometimes those stories aren't all sunshine and lollipops - sometimes they involve hard journeys and difficult roads, though thankfully these often lead to beautiful things.
Rebecca is truly beautiful inside and out. This incredibly strong, stunning lady and her amazing man have been through multiple journeys of loss and countless heartbreaks. Rebecca has carried each of her babies with so much love and care, but for reasons unknown, she and Mace have never been able to hold those sweet children in their arms. They began to lose hope that a pregnancy would ever go to full-term, and that they would ever be able to raise a gorgeous little child together. |
